There are several opportunities for structural fiberglass to be installed in different areas of buildings. An example would be using FRP for balcony railings, soffits, facia boards, doors, exposed building facades, and windows.
The store front façade pictured is five years old and looks as good as the day it was originally installed. No maintenance has been needed nor any provided. This will be the LAST storefront needed to be installed for this building.
FRP railings also offer little to no maintenance which will pay for themselves in as little as five years. The ease of maintenance and no replacement costs allow them to be taken out of the maintenance budgets and replacement budgets. FRP railings are painted with a marine grade paint to insure a low maintenance cost. These only need to be painted every 15-20 years. Most metal balconies need painting/maintenance every 3-5 years- sometimes sooner. AFS wants our balconies to be your LAST balconies you purchase.
Soffits and facia boards are another excellent place to install FRP. The natural elements are a constant threat to standard metal for wood used in these locations. The average life cycle of these products is 5 years and maintenance on wood and steel is exorbitant. FRP will be your LAST soffit or fascia board.
Doors without a doubt alarming amount of abuse from mother nature and people. AFS doors are painted in the marine paint we standardly use on all our structural fiberglass products. Our doors are more resilient to denting and scratches. Most doors require painting every 2 years. This can compound the problem with rust. Adding more moisture ensures the rust will inevitably continue to occur. FRP doors do not rust or rot. These also pay for themselves in a matter of a few years from lack of needing maintenance or replacement.
